It's often a stealthy process, the utilising of public lavatories. We spend as little time as possible in there; we certainly don't stop to look in detail at our surroundings. Here, I attempt to provide the opportunity to study at leisure this baseline of humanity, in a series of images. Perhaps they touch on the aesthetics of disgust and its own origins in the daily reminders of our own corporeality and consequently mortality, or perhaps they're simpler and reflect only the passing need to "spend a penny." However we are to take them, we cannot deny their commonality to us all.
The project comprises 28 images, but the title - FLUSHED 28 - also refers to the focal length of the lens used in its capture: 28mm.
